McHenry Holiday Cards

Several years ago I had the idea of making my own cards for the Holidays.  In my files I had photos of the Old Bridge on Pearl Street and I was trying to come up with ideas on how to utilize the image into a Christmas card.  I came up with a few ideas but I was not really happy with what I had.  Then I remembered the Christmas tree the city placed in the Fox River over the Holidays.  The next year I designed four more cards-Landmark School with the tree decorated on the turn island on Green Street, the Riverside Hotel, near where I grew up. The Train Station with the Christmas wreath on the front of the train and finally the Old Water Tower on Waukegan Road with the star atop.

 Growing up in McHenry in the 50's and 60's I have many pleasant memories of the Holidays, these cards are illustrations, or maybe illusions, of that time.
